Plan ahead this Christmas with Mirador Cerro Verde at —a safe environment free of fireworks and pyrotechnics that endanger the wild animals living in the forest.
Must-see
On Tuesday, December 7 , we will hold a ceremony of light , where we will invite our visitors and guests to take advantage of the forest’s silence to give thanks and transform themselves with the help of the element of fire. A day of candlelight, to be shared as a couple, with family, or simply with nature.
That evening, we’ll celebrate the start of the month with live holiday music on our Deck and in our restaurant.
We’ll also have Saturday events, a Christmas concert, Christmas gift sets, and many more surprises that we’ll be sharing on our social media.
Why no fireworks or pyrotechnics?
Did you know that at Mirador Cerro Verde we have 66 species of birds, and that fireworks cause animals to become anxious and keep them on high alert? That’s right—the loud noise of fireworks affects their nervous system, causing disorientation and, in some cases, a heart attack.
Birds have a much more highly developed sense of hearing than dogs or cats, putting the survival of many species at risk.
“When we talk about animals’ hearing range or sensitivity, we’re referring to the spectrum or range of sounds that animals can perceive. Humans can hear around 20,000 hertz, while animals can hear up to 25,000 or 100,000 hertz depending on the species; this is what makes them more vulnerable to sounds.” Dr. Juan Camilo González Niño, veterinarian, Master’s in Clinical Ethology
