Birds that live year-round at Mirador Cerro Verde

Following a bird survey conducted by thebiologist David Ángel Vasco, it was recorded that there are a total of 66 resident bird species at Mirador Cerro Verde.

Comprising 13 orders and 28 families, representing 3.3% of the bird species recorded in Colombia and 7.1% of the bird species reported in Antioquia.

This sampling was made possible through visual and auditory detection. The study used the line transect method, without estimating distances. Bird sightings were recorded using binoculars, and digital recordings of vocalizations were made over a five-day period.

In addition, threatened species were identified, and the biodiversity of the Aburrá Valley was recognized. Its richness as a rainforest—a key element for the development and functioning of various habitats—is where wildlife plays an essential role.
