Today, you can reach its summit by climbing 702 steps.<\/p><p class=\"translation-block\">According to legend, El Pe\u00f1\u00f3n de Guatap\u00e9\u2014its original name\u2014was a site of worship for the indigenous peoples who inhabited the region, and countless myths and legends surround the crevice located <span class=\"Estilo41\">on its western side.<\/span><\/p><p>La Piedra del Pe\u00f1ol was first climbed on July 16, 1954, by a local resident, Lu\u00eds Eduardo Villegas L\u00f3pez.
