In terms of wildlife, the area is home to species such as the guagua, the armadillo, the tigrillo, and the spectacled bear, as well as birds and endangered species such as the cock-of-the-rock.<\/p><p>It is a river basin where the watersheds that flow into the Caribbean Sea, the Pacific Ocean, and the vast Magdalena-Cauca basin originate. Water sources here flow into the San Juan River, which in turn flows into the Cauca River.<\/p><p>These water sources are used to supply public water systems in several municipalities in Antioquia, as well as for agricultural and fish farming purposes and hydroelectric power generation, among other uses.<\/p><p>The San Juan River watershed is further divided into sub-watersheds comprising the rivers and streams that flow into the San Juan River.
